Macro-nutrients and Their Importance in a Healthy Diet

The three macro-nutrients are carbs, fats, and proteins. Thousands of fad diets will tell you to cut out one or load up on another but each of these nutrients are important for different functions from structure to energy. Proteins help to build and maintain the tissues of the body and is thus important for the replacement of many tissues throughout the body. Fats are important to the immune system as well as clotting and many other functions. Fat is the most energy dense of the macro-nutrients and should be limited because an excess of calorie intake can cause many health issues such as obesity and heart problems. Carbohydrates play an important role in providing the energy we need to function. Roughly fifty percent of the average diet in terms of calories is made up of carbohydrates. In excess sugars and other carbs can have negative health effects such as obesity and diabetes. However, they are still an important part of a healthy diet and in moderation they are very important to daily functions.
This article mostly elaborated on the importance of a balanced diet to keep the body healthy. Macro-nutrients are the building blocks of the body and you can't build a great castle without good bricks. I personally have always been skeptical of the celebrity diets advertised by magazines and big companies that make money on the beauty industry. The answer isn't to never even look at a carbohydrate again or double your meat intake, the important thing is moderation and i think this article sheds light on this subject in an informative way that makes you think.
