Engineers have greatly transformed the world from sand to sky crappers, from water to power and many other things. Have you ever wondered what biologists and engineers would achieve if they combine their knowledge and work together...?
Recently, engineers and biologists have been working together to solve world challenges; They refer to this new field as the 'synthetic biology'. Let's take for example Christopher Voigt a biological engineer who is researching on a programing language for cells and engineering cellular sensors. Imagine what will happen if he becomes successful on the programming language of cells.
Most world problems would be addressed by creating the genes/cells through programming that will specifically target eliminating the threat or dangers. Think about the climate change. through programming language of the cells, scientists can create a plant that produces substantial amount f sugar to be used as a raw material in the production of biofuels, biochemicals and in many other applications. This way, we would have fought the increased global warming since biofuels do not cause pollution as fossil fuels does. Again, don't worry about you future because technology has got your back.
